Shaman or Professor – What type of Teacher are You?

As holistic healers and teachers, we have all spent time learning at the feet of our gurus – those Master Teachers who have walked the life path and generously provided their wisdom words for our betterment.

Like me, you may have had some teachers that you resonated with immensely, and then others where it seemed to fall flat. But once we discover our passion – the subject we love, learn and desire to teach – we might think back on past teachers and wonder, “How can I truly reach my students with LIGHT and insights for quantum change?”

Teaching from your Soul Center

An amazing life-path astrologer, Brook Jasmyn, explained the transforming time for Planet Earth that we are all experiencing now. In great service, as Healers & Teachers, we chose THIS TIME to reincarnate and assist humanity in higher consciousness growth.

In light of that, we would be ushering in a different type of teaching than what has been anchored here for the last 2,000 years; bringing the Shaman to take the place of the Professor.

Piscean Age transits to Aquarian Age

Humanity is leaving the Piscean Age and transitioning into the Aquarian Age. This brings in a different type of teacher. Let’s explore what the ‘Ages’ mean:

Zodiac Horoscope Signs, zodiachoroscopesigns.com
Zodiac Signs, zodiachoroscopesigns.com

According to astrology wisdom dating back to Hipparchus in 127 BC, the planet transitions backwards through the astrological signs (based on the vernal equinox transits) every 2,160 years. This means that the planet and humanity experience the qualities of that astrological sign for that period. If each sign is experienced, we have a full transition on the planet of about 25,920 years.

NOTE: this corresponds to the Mayan long count calendar transition where they calculated the end of a cycle of the Earth’s precession (wobble on its axis) – at 26,000 years. This was confirmed through the Milankovitch Theory in the 1920’s.

Many astrologers shorten this period to a straight 2,000 years, for ease in counting, and explain that we are in ‘cross-over’ of both signs at the front and back of each transition. So, for ease in counting, it is said that from approximately 1 AD to the year 2000, we were in the PISCEAN Age. Now, from the year 2,000 to the year 4,000, we will be in the AQUARIAN Age. Each age carries a ‘thought consciousness’ related to that astrological sign that pervades humanity’s growth and actions.

Becoming an Aquarian Teacher

Let’s review a chart that shows us the differences between a Piscean Teacher (our rigid Professor) and an Aquarian Teacher (our soul-centered Shaman):

How the Teacher relates to the Student

PISCEAN TEACHER                                                AQUARIAN TEACHER

Maintain the Status Quo Change the Status Quo
Ultimate Authority in the Universe  Does not want to be Authority Figure
Teacher believes once they have done it one time, they have mastered it, and then they know it all  Teacher believes that the more they learn, the less they know, and the more they want to learn from the subject
Establishes Dominant/Subservient relationship with Student Establishes an equal relationship with Student
One-way street of Dialogue that says, “Learn from me” Two-way street of Dialogue that says, “I might learn from the Student today”
Learn the Hard Way Let’s have Fun!
“Do what I say, not what I do” “I must walk my talk”
Sets Impossible standards for the Student In touch with Reality and sets Realistic Goals with baby steps for the Student
Teacher must convince the Student that as a Teacher, he/she has arrived at perfectionism Teacher stays open and vulnerable to show their imperfections
“Perfectionism Destination” – emulate me “Processing never ends” – continue to grow
Not natural and easy in delivery of message Natural and easy in delivery of message

Many of us have grown up under PISCEAN Age teachers. So while our hearts are moved to teach like an AQUARIAN teacher, we may find our habits influenced by the former.

Open Your Heart and Your Mind

Brook was clear that as an AQUARIAN teacher, you are holding the student’s hand for a temporary time – the Shaman walking beside the student – while you are modeling a new way of Being for the student. As the teacher, you are constantly learning as well. By being honest and authentic about your own journey, you transmit more honor and respect to the student about their own path choices.

I sincerely hope the chart assists you in reviewing where you excel and where you can open and deepen your teaching work. And I thank you, each of you who are choosing to be grounded, strong, and work in the Divine Light – thank you for choosing THIS TIME to teach and bring about compassion, understanding, and healing.

Many blessings to Brook Jasmyn, who has transitioned from this planet, for passing on this important message to Light Healers and Teachers.

Rate Your Life Satisfaction to Create Better Life Choices

There are many ways that we measure our satisfaction or contentment with our life experiences. I remember a friend named Michael who continually rated his top experiences of FUN in a rating system. He would put memories of events in order from 1 through 10, with “1” being the highest rating. If a night out with friends rated a “3,” you can be sure he had a really great time!

Michael could tell you at any moment the list of events and the rating. As a new and fantastic experience showed up, he would bump a lesser experience out of the top 10 list.

What I loved about this: He could access his ‘satisfaction’ moments within seconds!

This quick access system was a way that Michael could change a ‘bummed out’ moment to a smile – because he memorized and recounted these times often in his thoughts.

What gives you a smile? Are you enjoying the journey of your life?

We may feel happier overall in some areas of life than others – for example, I might be feeling fulfilled in my friendships, but generally out of harmony with my physical environment (where I live). If I know the degree of discontent, I can make specific choices to see improvements in that area.

My Top 10 List would include outdoor dinners with friends!

Evaluate your level of contentment with the Life Satisfaction Wheel

This wonderful tool is a circle that is sectioned off like pieces of a pie, and you can label each section with an area of your life; Spiritual Alignment, Health & Body Image, Recreation & Rest, Romance & Marriage, and more.

Download WHEEL here.

Using the Life Satisfaction Wheel:

  • Use the suggested labels at the bottom of the page and place them on sections around the outside of the wheel.
  • Note that the Satisfaction rating is 1 to 10, with 1 representing very low satisfaction and 10 representing a great sense of satisfaction.
  • Look at one section at a time and evaluate your feelings of fulfillment with that area of your life. Place a dot in that section on the number that best represents your feelings.
  • Once all the dots are in place around the Wheel, you can connect the dots with a continuous line around the inside of the circle. This will look a bit like a spider web, and it lets you see clearly areas that are stretching the web (high satisfaction) and areas that are contracting the web (low satisfaction).

There is something very powerful about a rating system!

When we put a number to the level of satisfaction for an area, we feel more in control of making changes going forward. It is no longer just a ‘general dissatisfaction’ feeling – it is trackable, and therefore open to change.

If I have a ‘5’ on the Life Satisfaction Wheel in the category of ‘Community Involvement,’ then I might realize that I am not doing as much in my community as I would like. Perhaps I enjoy participating in fundraiser 3-mile walks, but I have not joined a walk for over two years. Looking at the ‘5’ helps me identify that I can make some specific choices that would change that number.

Love it - Not Love it Cycle

Allow the Wheel to be what it is – Accept and do not get negative

It is unrealistic to believe that we will have full 9 or 10 level contentment with all areas of our life at the same time. That would go against the Law of Cycles.

Accept what the Wheel shows you once it is filled in. You are being honest with yourself and there is no room for beating yourself up later. You are not a “bad person” for having a low number in the ‘Friends and Family’ category. You are a dissatisfied person who is actively looking to improve your life experiences.

Life is constantly changing – so are your feelings about it

Doing a review every 6 months or so allows us to see what changes have occurred, and if we are on track for what we are choosing to manifest and accomplish in this lifetime.

Soul Journey: The Law of Incubation

Every single thing, matter and un-matter, has an incubation period – and you just need to sit your gorgeous self on it and it will tell you when it is ready.

–Melanie Johnson, KMP therapist

It is the beginning of a new year, and we excitedly vision new goals, new projects, and the birthing of new Dreams. This joy fills us with lots of STEAM; energy to forge ahead and make grand plans! And since we know that Intention and Vision are the first steps for major manifestation, this is time well-spent.

In the spirit of accountability (to ourselves) we may tell others our Dreams, Hopes and Desires. We set planning steps in process and we focus wholeheartedly on this wondrous new idea. This IS the exciting part!

Let’s fast-forward three months, and what we may find is that our burst of energy is wearing down, and we might even be at a ‘waiting place,’ as we look for confirmation that our Dream is making progress. This slowing down can fill us with impatience, frustration, and sometimes even depression.

Incubation is a Universal Law – it is part of our Life Process

The beautiful quote a the beginning of the article is by Melanie Johnson, MA, R-DMT, MCC, KMP, and she is a Kestenberg Movement Profile expert. Her daily life is all about MOVEMENT as a healing therapy that shifts our habits and attitudes. But Melanie knows that before a great and cohesive movement occurs, an incubation period is necessary (a learning and integrating period) and slowing down is part of the process.

Every mother on the planet experiences this – knowing that the incubation time during the pregnancy cannot be rushed and must be allowed to take is full course. The mother duck sits still, keeping the egg warm. Oh, how patient she is!

So, how can we prepare for this ‘incubation’ period of our Dream?

Expecting the Law of Incubation

Since ‘incubation’ – the process of allowing something to quietly grow on the inside – is a part of the life process for bringing in a new creation, it helps if we find ways to manage the emotions that come up when everything slows down.

What NOT to do:

  • Throw things against the wall
  • Eat everything in sight
  • Push every angle even more aggressively
  • Cry, cry and cry some more
  • Bark at the supportive people in your life

I know this list might get a chuckle, but you probably recognize some familiar behavior there. What you might also realize is that, in looking back, it made no difference to the actual progress of the Dream.

How to recognize if your Dream is in a true period of Incubation

  • You have done all the physical action required to move it forward (at this level)
  • You are waiting for others involved to comprehend and state commitment level
  • Every door is closing right now and you have no new solutions
  • You are mentally exhausted with it right now
  • A new direction is needed, and nothing is showing up (yet)

The incubation period can be applied to any field of work, from engineering to fine art to writing to entrepreneurship, and more. All birthing processes need some time to grow, especially if you have already set foundations in motion.

What TO do:

  • Stop and reflect: is this a time of ‘incubation?’
  • Breathe – take three deep breaths
  • Commit to set it aside for 48 hours
  • Get out in Nature – seriously!
  • Ask for the new solutions or direction to come to you in your nighttime dreams
  • WAIT until you get the nudge that it is ready to hatch!

We need to take a step back, so the first step is reflection on the whole process. Then take some deep breaths – this will relax your body and clear your mind. Truly commit to taking some time away from the Dream (project, issue) and I recommend at least 48 hours. Try to get outside, as nature has a vibration frequency designed to calm our electrical inner wiring so we gain some peace. Ask for help from your Inner Self. You can do this in conversations with your Higher Realm Guides, and use the Dream Incubation! (my favorite)

And finally, wait until it tells you it is ready! There is that Eureka moment that comes with the first crack of the eggshell, and your whole being knows what to do and that the Dream is at the next stage.

The Stirring Inside the Egg

Sometimes the movement will be ignited by an outside source, but most often, as in nature, the MOVEMENT comes from inside the Egg. The stirring of your heart and mind will tell you what direction to take, or when it is ready to begin the next phase of growth.

So when our next INCUBATION period shows up, let’s embrace it, sit our gorgeous selves down, and know that we are right where we need to be!

Soul Journey: Divine Timing

Years ago I attended a weekend workshop for spiritual seekers who wanted to fearlessly examine personal life choices and present circumstances. The goal was to emerge on Sunday with an essential understanding of our life path purpose and to get back on track with renewed vigor.

Looking back now, I am filled with a great appreciation of this ‘examination’ as a life’s work and not a weekend excursion. However, one teaching from that workshop remains with me: the timing of windows of opportunity in our lives.

It seems that in our new-found smorgasbord of universal spirituality, we have grasped onto the belief that an opportunity once opened is always available to us. All that we need to do is get up the courage to follow that specific path. What appears to come as a shock is when we discover that the window has closed – with a resounding thud. While this means that another window has opened up somewhere, it is not usually the same window (specific path choice), and our inability to let go of the original information is where we get stuck in a mud-pit of inaction.

Here is what happened at the workshop

A middle-aged, unmarried woman was in distress about her career and relationship status and she was trying to decide whether to stay in her current home city or to move to another U.S. city and start over again. The master teacher for the workshop was also a renowned psychic and channeler and had advised (through Higher Realm information) this same woman four years earlier concerning this subject.

At that time, it was revealed that a different city was the one for her; that her heart was singing out for this location and that if she started her career over in that city, much prosperity would be on its way to her. In other words, there was Higher Realm support linked with her soul contract for the choice of moving to this city where there would be more abundance and ease for her in accomplishing her goals.

She chose inaction and indecision

The class learned that she never made the move and had, instead, remained in her current city. She shared that over the past four years, she had continued to struggle to make a living and still did not feel connected to a like-minded, like-hearted community. The class participants were moved by her feelings of distress and loneliness, and many identified with the fear and indecision she had faced around leaving a job and a house behind for the unknown that lay ahead.

She asked in a gentle and eager voice to the loving Higher Realm energy that was being channeled by the teacher, “Can I still move there and start over? I think I am ready now. I’m pretty sure I could manage it now.”Little House in a Tree Arboretum

The monotone and unemotional response caught her off-guard. “Yes, you can move there,” the Higher Realm energy stated, “however, you have missed the window of opportunity. That city would no longer be an area of ease and abundance for you.”

The woman was stunned by this answer

Asking for clarification, the woman asked, “Do you mean I should not move there now? But it is what I have been focusing on and getting ready for all this time.”

The Higher Realm energy responded, “The synchrony of people and projects that would have opened to you are no longer there. You may move there if you wish, but the path for your work will be filled with challenges.” The Higher Realm energy was affirming her free will choice to move to the city she had once heard was the place for her to be, but that the ‘ease’ would not be forthcoming.

There had been a shift, the earth was in a new breath, and she had missed this particular beneficial timing.

As you might imagine, the room was rather silent. Everyone was in deep contemplation about what “windows of opportunity” or “Divine timing” really meant in our lives.

What have each of us missed and what are we still hanging onto in our minds and hearts?

When we embark on a true Soul Journey to discover our God-self and our unique gifts and passions in this lifetime, we are also tasking ourselves to ‘listen deeply’ – wake up and take action when we get true guidance. And what is true guidance?

True guidance is when our intuitive Self recognizes the information as true for us, which means it feels right even when it does not make practical sense in the rational world.

The workshop woman’s heart had been calling out to do the work that most filled her with joy in a supportive community – and she had received information of where to go to be most supported – at that time. Her ability to be flexible was part of her life lessons, and she seized up in fear when the idea of uprooting her life was first presented to her. She moved this to her rational mind and, instead of taking immediate action on what her heart knew to be true, she began the long, arduous road of earthly planning.

She left her Angels, Spirit Guides and her Intuitive Self out of the mix – no longer invited to be co-creators with her in achieving her soul dreams.

She was going to do it by herself, trapped by fears of not having enough money and choosing the experience of not having enough friends to lean on for support.

Some would call this a ‘lack of faith’ and others would say it is an inability to vision a better, more expanded life for herself.

We can simplify here: “She missed that particular window of opportunity.”

And the real tragedy is that she held onto that one stream of thought, believing that the support in that city should last forever. Instead of living the embedded experience of accepting Higher Realm guidance and support, and meeting a new community and work environment, she chose to stay in the illusion of the opportunity.

Windows of Opportunity are built into our Soul Contracts!

There are lots of opportunities built into our Soul Contracts for deeper, more loving relationships, for financial abundance, for joyful and fulfilling work, and for genuine connection to Source (Mother/Father God) on a daily basis. We are constantly brought face-to-face with our inner fears that bind us down and keep tight restrictions on our life choices – this is what an ‘opportunity’ will bring up.

What is at the heart of our hesitancy? We crave the promise of abundance and security from Source – and I mean, the unerring PROMISE of abundance and security – that is rooted in rational mind thinking and not heart-centered living. We want guarantees!

Because of that fear, we move into rationalizations on how we should live our lives and we shut down the whispers in our heart that send us crazy and illogical ideas.

Dedication to listening combined with action is our greatest asset.

While there is no weekend workshop ‘fix’ to get every last fear out of the body and mind, putting dedication and perseverance to our own Soul Journey with particular attention to our inner guidance system is the path to hearing and following our “windows of opportunity.”

Author and healer Caroline Myss reminds us that Divine Timing is just what it sounds like: it is set up in the Divine Realm and it has a timing to it – a grace period. If you miss this one, another one will come along, but it may not be the same shape or size of the previous one.

Our greatest asset is our ability to be flexible, dedicated to listening, and willing to take action when the inner ‘nudge’ shows up.
